Dr. S.K. Bansal

Dr. Sushil Bansal is Gold Medalist in MBBS from Allahabad University. After passing MD (Medicine), he went to United Kingdom for further education. There, once he attained required qualifications, he was appointed as a Consultant Physician in Medicine (with interest in Geriatrics Medicine). At that time, he was the youngest consultant appointed in the whole of Northern Region of the United Kingdom. He held this post for over 36 years. During this time, he managed the Department of Medicine in a 1000 bedded hospital in Sunderland. There he also developed and led rehabilitation services in the District and beyond. He has a natural flair for academics and management. Doctors trained by him are working all over the world. He was also an external and host examiner for MRCP with the Royal College of Physicians and represented the college overseas. Twice, in a nationwide competition in England, he was nominated as “Hospital Doctor of the Year”. In 1989, he also established a very successful 65 bedded senior citizen nursinghome, with rehabilitation as a focus.For his contribution to the society, he was invited to the Buckingham Palace London by the Queen. In 2017, to honour Dr. Bansal, City Hospitals Sunderland, England named a seminar room as “Bansal Seminar Room” – first time ever done in the region for a doctor of Asian origin.
To pay back to his roots, since 2009, he started working between India and England, spending 6 months in a year at Swami Ram Himalayan University,Dehradun. Whilst working there, he realized a great short fall in services in Dehradun, where people had to travel to distant places for Neuro- rehabilitation, disrupting their life and family - this led to foundation of ANRC.
